Hey Aaron -
The Canopus (ADVC 700) has been working great for us - it was here before me so I had no part in the decision to buy it, but I think it's a good machine for our project size/budget size.

We run the video from players (Beta, Umatic, and VHS) through a Sony selector, which outputs to a) a monitor and b) the Canopus, then Firewire from the Canopus into the Mac laptop we're recording onto. I've never run into any problems with the Canopus in the six months I've been here.

So there's my two cents' worth. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Sorry to post OT, but I noticed in the UH Press Release that you're using a Canopus to digitize content. How's that working for you? I ask because we're contemplating using a Canopus ADVC110 at work to record some video. And I'm always looking for advice!
